As you approach Grange-over-Sands from the east along the A590, you pass an impressive rock face on the right known as Whitbarrow Scar. Whitbarrow has been designated a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest, and, from the top, has magnificent views in all directions.
Although the walk has some steep paths, the walk isn’t difficult and the views from the summit are well worth the trouble. To start the walk it is safe to park your car at Mill Side near Witherslack on the old A590 road. You can comfortably reach the summit and back in a couple of hours.
