Cartmel Methodist Chapel is sits on the banks of the River Eea in the centre of Cartmel village.
It was opened on October 1st 1872 and seated 150 people.
Before then, meetings had been held in homes throughout the district and in the Cartmel gatehouse.
Membership has always been small. At the centenary in 1972, the membership stood at 23, the largest in its history.
The chapel is open daily from around 10am until 4pm.
You are welcome to enjoy the peace and simplicity of the chapel and garden.
There are leaflets for a prayer trail with guided reflections on features of the chapel and garden.
